In Spring 2014, Marquette Welch '13, current Emerging Leader, proposed a visual art project to lift up the voices of youth in Boston. She created Voices of The City School, capturing the struggles and passions of Greater Boston teenagers in our Summer Leadership Program. Read her grad profile here!
She interviewed each participant asking: What are your current struggles? What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself? Where do you expect to be in ten years? These stories, along with photographs capture an intimate look into the lives of teenagers from across race, class, gender and sexual orientation.
Voices of The City School debuted at La Galeria in the Villa Victoria Cultural Center on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. The exhibit is now on display at The City School in Dorchester throughout the year.
